I was meeting a friend for drinks at a historic hotel in downtown Austin, but I didnt see him in the dimly lit bar. I decided to wait on a nearby chair and I didnt realize until I had settled in that it was upholstered in authentic cowhide–hair and all! I was shocked at first, and that gave way to fascination. Such a rugged chair in such a refined hotel–which summed up Austin. Our oak Driskill Chair does the same dance between country and city with a seat of linen and a back covered in whipstitched leather on one side and hair-on-hide on the other.
